Training
If you are a reporting official for an IPERS-covered employer, you’ll need to understand everything from the basics of wage reporting to the laws and processes that govern pension administration for Iowa’s public employees. It is IPERS’ responsibility—and pleasure—to provide you with the best training possible to help you translate this knowledge into action.
New Reporting Officials Training: This training is geared toward helping new reporting officials, and those who have never attended IPERS training, understand their responsibilities. The training covers the basics of reporting, from who is covered by IPERS to wage reporting. We also tackle more complex procedures, such as optional coverage, temporary employment, and adjusting wages. You’ll also learn where to go for answers!
The training is offered twice a year at the IPERS office in Des Moines. IPERS will notify employers when registration begins for the Spring and Fall classes.

Annual Update for Reporting Officials: Offered every June at locations across Iowa, this training is designed as a refresher course for reporting officials and others with IPERS-related responsibilities. We explain changes in Iowa laws and rules and how they affect you. We’ll also discuss and answer questions about IPERS’ most common and complex coverage issues. The 2008 Annual Update will be combined with the I-Que Employer Self-Service Training, which will be held in July.
