Benefits Division

These staff members are on the front lines serving members, retirees, beneficiaries, and employers. They educate members about benefits and make sure pensions are paid on time and in the right amount. The Benefits Division also helps employers comply with IPERS’ rules.

One bureau within the Benefits Division specializes in helping Special Service (public safety) members, whose benefits differ from those offered to most IPERS members.

Benefits staff receive ongoing training that emphasizes the importance of customer service. Some staff members hold the designation of certified retirement counselor.
