Cost Effectiveness
It costs money to manage a Trust Fund, from collecting contributions and investing them, to counseling members and paying retirement benefits. IPERS does all this at a lower cost than most other pension funds of a similar size, while providing a high quality of service.
Independent Evaluation. IPERS contracts with CEM Benchmarking Inc. to perform an objective study of IPERS’ costs and level of service. CEM is an independent, international company that studies the performance of public retirement systems. CEM compares IPERS to other public pension agencies of comparable size. CEM found IPERS’ benefit administration costs for 2007 were less than half the median costs of other pension agencies.
