Managing a trust fund with assets exceeding $20 billion requires rigorous accounting, meticulous internal controls, and a strong commitment to protecting the Fund for IPERS members and retirees. Each year IPERS finances are audited by the Iowa Auditor’s office. IPERS reports annually on its finances and performance according to standards established by the Government Accounting Standards Board and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). IPERS repeatedly has received the GFOA’s Excellence in Financial Reporting award.
