How does divorce affect my IPERS benefits? Does IPERS accept qualified domestic relations orders (QDROs)?
A QDRO is a special court order issued by a judge that specifies how a divorcing couple will divide their pension assets and property. IPERS does accept QDROs. You can download a sample model QDRO. Please contact our office if you have specific questions on what we accept.

If a divorcing couple can agree to divide other marital property equitably, then IPERS benefits may not need to be divided and there may not be a need for a QDRO.
