IPERS Web site springs forward

Our Web site is in full bloom this spring and I hope you will agree that “everything is coming up roses oak leaves!” The oak leaf, used throughout the new Web site, symbolizes IPERS’ strength, stability, and commitment to Iowa public employees.

With members, retirees, employers, board members, and staff as advisers, we reorganized and redesigned our entire Web site. You can more easily find information in separate Members and Retirees sections. The Employers section has information specifically for reporting officials and human resources professionals. Even though we don’t grow roses, you will see in IPERS Central and Investments that we have a green thumb when it comes to growing our assets and protecting the trust fund.

Please use my favorite Web site tips to help you make the most of your online visit.

CEO Mueller’s Top 10 Tips for Using IPERS’ Web Site

10 It’s easiest to find information that applies to you by selecting the Members, Retiree, or Employers section from the home page. If you are not in one of these groups, the information you need may be in IPERS Central, Investments, or the Newsroom.
9 Most navigation is through the left-hand panel. You will navigate some publications by using the panel on your right.
8 You will leave “breadcrumbs” to help you find your way. These are in the black bar beneath the blue section headers. For example, this breadcrumb shows you that you are in the section of our Web site for retirees and looking at a publication about returning to work after retirement.

7 If you get lost, you always can find your way home by clicking on the IPERS’ Iowa logo. You can return to the index page of each section on the Web site by clicking on the blue header.
6 If you aren’t sure where to find what you need, you can use the search feature at the top of each page.
5 Links are highlighted by a different text color. If you follow a link, you can return to where you were by using the back button on your browser or the panel navigation. On a few pages, we provide a special return link.
4 You can easily find IPERS publications within each section or by using the publication link at the top of each page.
3 You may order print publications online, although I hope you will find the online version so easy to use that you won’t need paper. You will know you have the most current IPERS information when you read an online publication—and you won’t have to file it!
2 You can change the appearance of a page to make the words easier to see and the page easier to print, and download Adobe Reader needed to view some publications by selecting the icons under the blue header.

These options also are at the bottom of each page: Download Adobe Reader, Print This Page, Change Type Size and Color, and Web Policy.
  And my number one tip:
1 There is a “contact us” link at the top of each page. Please explore our site and then send me a note. Let me know what you like and any ideas you have for making the improved IPERS Web site even better.
