April openings remain for IPERS retirement counseling in Dubuque
(DES MOINES)—Openings still are available April 14–17, 2008, for Dubuque-area public employees to meet with an IPERS representative about retirement benefits. IPERS covers teachers, other school employees, law enforcement personnel, some firefighters, city and county workers, and state employees.
IPERS recommends the 30-minute appointments for all members planning to retire in three to five years, but any IPERS member may attend. IPERS provides an individualized estimate of benefits to each member attending.
Counseling is by appointment only. Those interested should call 1-800-622-3849 by April 10, 2008, to schedule an appointment. All counseling sessions will be at the Country Inn & Suites, 1315 Associates Dr., Dubuque.
IPERS is the largest statewide public retirement system in Iowa with more than 300,000 members. IPERS is funded by contributions from public employees and about 2,300 participating employers plus investment income. The trust fund’s assets exceed $20 billion. Last year IPERS paid over $1 billion in benefits to retirees and beneficiaries. More than 88 percent of those payments stayed in Iowa.
