IPERS retirement counseling in Davenport

(DES MOINES)–Openings remain for IPERS retirement counseling March 30–April 2, 2009, in Davenport. IPERS covers teachers, city and county workers, state agency staff, and other public employees.

IPERS members planning to retire in three to five years should attend. IPERS provides an individualized estimate of benefits at the appointment.

Counseling is by appointment only. Evening appointments are available. Those interested need to call 1‑800-622-3849 by March 26, 2009. All appointments will be at the Staybridge Suites, 4729 Progress Dr., Davenport.

IPERS is the largest statewide public retirement system in Iowa with more than 300,000 members. IPERS’ funding comes from payroll deductions plus investment income. Last year IPERS paid over $1 billion in retirement, disability, and death benefits. More than 88 percent of those payments were made in Iowa.
