IPERS Employees Raise More Than $5,000 for Food Bank of Iowa

(DES MOINES) – Donna M. Mueller, CEO of Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System (IPERS), reported more than $5,000 has been raised by IPERS' 80 employees over the past 12 months to benefit the Food Bank of Iowa.

"The Food Bank of Iowa has long been our employees' focus of support. This support has grown to an all-time high of $5,332.34 this fiscal year," said Mueller. "Through monthly potlucks, jeans days, and other fundraising activities, IPERS employees have worked hard to provide for those in need. For such a small agency, I'm quite proud of our team."

IPERS' fundraising effort is part of the Governor's Office annual food drive, which began in 1983 during Governor Branstad's first term.

The Food Bank of Iowa reports that for every $1 donation, it can provide five meals.

IPERS is a public pension fund for employees of state and local governments in Iowa. For more information on IPERS, please visit IPERS' website at www.ipers.org.
