IPERS encourages all retirees to stay informed about how certain circumstances may affect IPERS benefits. Below are short summaries of information contained in the links in the left-hand menu.
Purchasing Service. Even though you are retired, you may still be eligible to purchase additional service to increase your benefit amount.
If You Serve in the Military. As a retiree who served in the military, you may still be eligible to receive free IPERS service credits, purchase service credits, and make up contributions, which can potentially increase your benefit amount.
If You Divorce. A divorce after you have retired can affect your IPERS benefit if benefits are divided between you and your former spouse. IMPORTANT!
