IPERS also posts warnings if we hear of a scam that is intended to obtain personal or financial information from members, beneficiaries, or retirees.

The recession has hurt IPERS long-term funding and the Benefits Advisory Committee is studying how to rebalance it. Benefits already earned cannot be cut, and only the legislature can change future benefits. Read more about IPERS' long-term funding in the summer issue of Inside IPERS. |

You may now apply to make up furlough contributions. Paying contributions on lost furlough wages can minimize the negative effect a furlough will have on your monthly benefit payment, but only in some circumstances.
Before completing the Application to Submit Contribution for Furlough, make sure this is the right decision for you. File a Request for Benefit Estimate for Members Affected by a Furlough before signing the application. Get answers to common questions about furloughs and IPERS benefits to see what other alternatives you have. |
